2 years ago I’ve landed in Sydney. I didn’t know anyone there and all I knew about Australia had something to do with beaches, accents, koalas, and kangaroos.
I’ve had a perfect plan: I’d enjoy the Aussie summer, have fun while making some money working in jobs that had nothing to do with my background, then go back to Brazil and follow the next logical steps for a newly graduated lawyer.
I thought I’d stay for three months. On my first week, I remember telling everyone – I’m changing this flight, there’s no way I’ll be back so early. Which turned out to be right. After 2 years and 2828227 stories, homes, jobs, and shifts in my perspective, the person I am now wouldn’t even consider going back to that old life.
Yesterday, I stepped out of this lovely country, where I now call home, for the first time. And oh, wow. All levels of my being were looking forward to that magical clarity that only comes when you’re crossing borders high in the sky, almost forced to reflect and put the puzzles of your life together.
The exhilaratingly feeling that hit me even before I landed reminded me of our true nature’s request: constant expansion. Geographically or not, may we promise to ourselves not to hold our lives (and minds) into sameness
Looking back I realised that all the blessings I’ve experienced only came in when I burned my ‘step by step plan to a happy life’ and surrendered to what was unfolding.
Sooner or later we need to make peace with this life force that knows us way better than we know ourselves. We think we know what we want and need, but, honestly? We don’t.
My strong faith comes from the understanding that no matter where I go or which choice I make, the Universe still got my back. My job is to act from a place of love, knowing that when I do, things just can’t. go. wrong. That’s a law. (trust me, imma lawyer)
And that’s why every morning I write, on my phone, notebook, napkin, or even on my hand: “May this day surprise me in ways that I can’t even imagine.”
My path is everywhere I step. ✨
